Overview
The short version: PhaseShift does not collect your data. There are no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no accounts. The developer never receives your music, your library, your listening history, or any identifier for you or your device.
PhaseShift is a music player that runs entirely on your device. It is developed and published by New Atlantis Studios (Nevv Atlantis LLC). We designed it so that your library and your listening stay private to you.
What PhaseShift Stores on Your Device
Everything below stays on your device. It is never sent to the developer or any third party.
- Music files you add, kept in the app’s Music folder.
- Library and play history — song details, ratings, play counts, and playlists — in an on-device database.
- Settings — your preferences, such as the equalizer, theme, and audio options.
- Pairing secrets — Library Sync pairing codes and the app’s TLS certificate, stored in the device Keychain.
Your music files and the library/history database are excluded from iCloud and device backups so they don’t consume your iCloud storage. Your settings are small and are included in backups.
When Data Leaves Your Device — Only at Your Request
PhaseShift connects to the network only for features you choose to use:
- Wi-Fi Transfer and Library Sync move music between your own devices and your own computer over your local network. These connections are encrypted with TLS and gated by a PIN or a pairing code, and the data is not sent anywhere else.
- AI metadata enrichment (optional). PhaseShift itself makes no internet connections and queries no online music databases. If you choose to use enrichment, a helper you run on your own computer does any lookups and sends suggested tags back to the app over your local network, where you review and apply them on the device. The app never contacts a metadata service or the developer.
Permissions PhaseShift Requests
- Camera — only to scan a pairing QR code shown on another device.
- Local Network — only for Wi-Fi Transfer, Library Sync, and browsing network drives (WebDAV).
PhaseShift does not request Bluetooth, location, contacts, photos, or tracking permissions, and it does not use the advertising identifier.
Your Controls
In Settings ▸ Privacy you can:
- Turn on Strict Privacy to stop the app suggesting your albums, artists, and playlists to Siri and Spotlight.
- Export My Data to save a copy of your library, ratings, history, and playlists.
- Delete All My Data to erase everything PhaseShift stores on the device.
Children’s Privacy
PhaseShift collects no data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and the updated version will ship with the app. Because PhaseShift collects no data, meaningful changes to this policy are unlikely.
