Overview
The short version: MealMarks does not collect your data. It has no accounts, cloud service, analytics, advertising, or tracking. Your journal and photos stay on your device unless you explicitly export them.
MealMarks is a private food journal developed and published by New Atlantis Studios (Nevv Atlantis LLC). It is designed to keep your meal history under your control.
What MealMarks Stores on Your Device
MealMarks stores the information you choose to add to your journal, including:
- Meal photos and thumbnails managed inside the app’s private container.
- The date and time associated with each entry.
- Optional places, meal tags, preferences, and notes.
- App settings, including your preferred journal layout.
Managed meal photos are excluded from iCloud backup. You can create your own complete, portable ZIP archive at any time using Export in Settings.
Data Collection and Network Use
MealMarks has no account system or network integration and does not send your journal to the developer or any third party.
- No personal information, journal content, photos, tags, or notes are collected.
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising identifiers, or tracking technologies are used.
- No third-party advertising, analytics, or cloud-storage SDKs are included.
- Diagnostics do not contain your notes, tags, filenames, or images.
Camera, Photos, and Location
- Camera access is used only when you choose to photograph a meal inside MealMarks.
- The system photo picker is used only when you choose an existing photo for an entry.
- MealMarks does not request location permission or capture GPS data. Places are optional tags that you enter or select yourself.
Import, Export, and Sharing
When you choose Export, MealMarks creates a ZIP archive containing a JSON manifest and the full-size photos referenced by that snapshot. The archive is shared only through the destination you select in the system share sheet.
When you choose Import, MealMarks reads the archive you select and validates it before adding its entries and photos to your on-device journal. Import and export are initiated and controlled by you.
Your Controls
- Edit or delete individual journal entries.
- Create and delete reusable place and meal tags.
- Export a complete copy of your journal and referenced photos.
- Erase all MealMarks data from the device after confirmation.
Children’s Privacy
MealMarks collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Because MealMarks collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
