About MealMarks
MealMarks is a private, photo-first food journal for noticing your eating patterns without calorie targets, scores, or judgment. Take a photo, add the context you care about, and look back through a visual journal that stays on your device.
MealMarks turns the simple act of taking a meal photo into a journal you will actually want to revisit. Add a photo from your library or camera, choose the date and time, and save as much or as little context as you like — a place, a meal tag, whether you would have it again, and a personal note are all optional.
Your journal stays visual and easy to explore. Meals are grouped by day in reverse chronological order, with compact and large-photo layouts for different ways of looking back. Reusable tags keep your own vocabulary consistent, while multi-tag filters help you rediscover exactly the meals you remember.
Patterns are descriptive, never prescriptive. Daily, weekly, and monthly summaries show meal counts, frequently used tags, and tag combinations without calories, nutrition grades, streak pressure, or moral labels. It is a quiet way to notice your habits on your own terms.
MealMarks has no account, cloud service, ads, analytics, or tracking. Journal records and managed photos stay on your device, the app never requests your location, and a complete ZIP export gives you a portable copy of your entries and full-size photos whenever you want one.
Core Features
A Journal Built Around Photos
Every mark begins with a meal photo, creating a colorful timeline instead of a spreadsheet of food. Choose a compact grid or a generous large-photo layout, with entries grouped by day and ordered by when the meal happened.
Mark a Meal in Moments
Take a photo or choose one from your library, adjust the captured date and time, and save. Location, meal tags, preference, and notes are independently optional, so a quick entry stays quick while a memorable meal can hold its whole story.
Your Places, Meals & Language
Create reusable place and meal tags that sound like you, then add “Would have again” or “Not for me” only when it helps. Manage saved tags and see how often each one appears as your journal grows.
Find Any Meal Again
Filter the journal using one or more tags to find meals by place, meal type, or preference. Multiple filters work together, and active filter chips make it clear exactly which slice of your journal you are viewing.
Patterns Without Judgment
Review daily, weekly, and monthly summaries of meal counts, frequently used tags, and recurring tag pairs. MealMarks describes what is in your journal without calorie targets, grades, goals, or streaks.
Private, Portable & Yours
Your journal stays on your device with no account, cloud service, analytics, ads, or tracking. Export a complete ZIP archive containing a JSON manifest and your referenced full-size photos, import an archive later, or erase all local data from Settings.

MealMarks is deliberately not a calorie counter, nutrition tracker, meal planner, or restaurant review app. It does not label food as good or bad, set targets, or turn eating into a streak. The journal shows what you recorded and helps you notice your own rhythms.
That restraint is the point: a photo can preserve the meal, your tags can preserve its context, and patterns can help you reflect without telling you what to think about them.
A Journal You Can Take With You
A complete ZIP export keeps the journal portable. Each archive contains structured entry data and the full-size photos referenced by that snapshot, so your history is not trapped inside an account or a proprietary cloud service.
Imports are validated before anything is committed, and MealMarks either completes the operation or leaves the existing journal unchanged. You remain in control of where an exported archive is stored or shared.
