A library view tells you how music is categorized, but collectors sometimes need to see the files underneath it. Which folder holds a particular album? Did an import preserve the box-set hierarchy? Is an old duplicate still taking up storage? PhaseShift v1.2 adds a Music Folder browser so the app’s managed files are visible without disconnecting them from the songs and playlists that use them.

Open the Managed Folder from Settings

Go to Settings and choose Music Folder to open the root of the storage PhaseShift manages. Folders display as navigable rows, while files show useful details such as size and modification date. Pull to refresh or use the refresh button after an external file operation so the listing reflects what is currently on disk.

Follow the Same Hierarchy PhaseShift Uses

The browser shows the real folder layout rather than reconstructing a view from artist and album tags. If Preserve Folders kept Music/Label/Artist/Album from an import, you can follow that hierarchy directly. If Auto-Organize created Artist/Album destinations, those are visible instead. This makes the result of your organization choice concrete and easy to verify.

Preview a File Before Acting

Select a file to open the system preview, which is useful when filenames are similar or an unfamiliar sidecar file sits beside an album. Folder and file icons distinguish audio, images, text, archives, and other recognizable types. Hidden and linked items are identified separately so they are not mistaken for ordinary managed music.

Drag Files or Folders into the Destination You Want

On devices where file drag and drop is available, drop an item onto the current directory or directly onto one of its folders. PhaseShift copies it into that destination and scans copied folders for audio to add to the library. Existing managed songs are not registered a second time, and the operation reports both the number of items copied and the number of songs added.

Delete the File and Its Library Record Together

Swipe or touch and hold a managed item to delete it. Before anything is removed, PhaseShift identifies how many songs would be affected and warns that deleting a folder also deletes everything inside it. Confirming the action removes the file or folder from storage, removes related songs from the library, and updates playlists that contained those songs. The root Music folder itself cannot be deleted.

File Management Without a Surprise Reorganization

Music Folder is a direct management tool, not a hidden bulk organizer. Changing Preserve Folders or Auto-Organize still affects future imports only; it does not silently move the files you already have. The browser gives you a transparent view of those files and deliberate controls for adding or deleting them, while PhaseShift keeps its library database aligned with the storage you can see.
