LockWhisper v8 is a major refresh of the app structure. The goal is simple: make a broad privacy toolkit easier to navigate without weakening the local-first model that makes LockWhisper different from cloud vaults and account-based security apps.

A Dashboard Built Around Purpose

Earlier versions placed many tools close together, which worked when the app was smaller. Version 8 groups modules by purpose so users can move through credentials, vaults, communication, productivity, capture and media, safety, and overflow tools with less hunting. The dashboard is still a launch point, but it now behaves more like a map of the private workflows inside the app.

New and Expanded Private Workflows

Version 8 expands the set of encrypted modules. Writings brings notes and journal-style entries into a unified private writing surface. Planner supports agenda and task planning. Secure Media handles encrypted photos, videos, and voice memos. Secure Scanner covers QR, ID, business card, and OCR-assisted capture workflows.

More Specialized Vaults

LockWhisper v8 also adds or expands vaults for links, custom records, identity information, habits, emergency information, and secure clipboard history. These modules are meant for the scattered personal data that usually ends up in notes apps, photo libraries, browser bookmarks, screenshots, or unencrypted files.

Search and Favorites Matter More Now

A larger privacy toolkit only works if users can find things quickly. Version 8 improves encrypted search and favorites so important records can stay accessible without making the dashboard feel overloaded. Favorites also help bridge the gap between a broad app and the specific few records a user opens every day.

Still Local First

The v8 redesign does not turn LockWhisper into a cloud vault. Supported module data remains built around local encryption and device-controlled storage. Your vault is not stored in a LockWhisper cloud account, and data only moves when you export it or sync supported data directly with another trusted device.
